What does a plan manager do?

A plan manager handles the financial administration of your NDIS plan. They pay your service providers, track your budget across all support categories, process claims and invoices, and provide monthly statements.

Does plan management cost me anything?

No. Plan management is funded by the NDIS as a separate line item in your plan. It does not reduce your other supports.

Can I use unregistered providers with plan management?

Yes. One of the key benefits of plan management is that you can choose both registered and unregistered NDIS providers, giving you more choice and flexibility.

What is NDIS Plan Management?

NDIS Plan Management is a funded support that helps you manage the financial side of your NDIS plan. A registered plan manager pays your providers, tracks your budget across all support categories, and provides monthly statements so you always know how your funding is being spent.

How much does NDIS Plan Management cost?

Plan management is fully funded by the NDIS under Improved Life Choices. There is no out-of-pocket cost to you — it does not reduce your other support budgets. If you do not have plan management funding, you can request it at your next plan review.

Can I choose my own providers with plan management?

Yes. Plan management gives you full choice and control over your providers, including unregistered providers that agency-managed participants cannot access. This means more options and greater flexibility in who delivers your supports.

How long does it take to set up plan management?

Usually 1–3 business days. We request the service booking from the NDIA and once confirmed, we're ready to start managing your plan immediately.

What is the difference between plan managed and agency managed NDIS?

With plan management, a plan manager handles your invoices and you can use both registered and unregistered providers. With agency management, the NDIA manages your funding and you can only use registered providers. Plan management gives you more choice and control without the administrative burden of self-management.

Can I switch to plan management from agency or self management?

Yes. You can request to change your plan management type at your next scheduled plan review, or request a plan variation if your circumstances have changed. Align Network can support you through this process.

What happens if I run out of NDIS funding before my plan ends?

Your plan manager will alert you when budgets are running low so you can take action before funds are exhausted. Options include requesting an unscheduled plan review, adjusting how you use remaining budgets, or pausing lower-priority supports temporarily.
